I saw HP7 part 2 yesterday, and even though I absolutely loved it, I'm feeling a bit sad today. I thought I said my goodbyes after the final book, but I guess waiting for the film postponed it a little. It's over now. Not that I don't love HP anymore, it's just ... different. And I know it's not the end of the world, I just need some time to figure out how to not wait for the next big thing (or something).
Besides next week is DiaCon Alley
, and I've spent this day sorting my remaining costumes for the con. I'm really excited about this :D
We still haven't got internet at home. I'm at work now after my mini Christmas break.
We went to Jutland for Christmas, apparently our train was the last train to Jutland on the 22nd before the blizzard, so lucky us.
Now don't get me wrong, snow is very pretty, but ... AAARG too much of a good thing and all. My heart goes out to all the people who didn't make it home (or wherever they were headed) for Christmas.A little update on DiaCon Alley:
Our membership prices are planned to go up on January 21st. However
, if we do get a big rush between now and then we might be able to push that date back, thus allowing people the cheaper rate for longer, sound good doesn't it?
The awesome and lovely creatore_magico
drew us this amazing
Happy birthday to draco_crescendo
and the lovely annephoenix
This day is also my birthday, and the weather has been lovely and sunny all day, I must have been really good this year, because it's been raining cats and dogs for days, but today sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine.
I was woken up this morning by my husband and son, who then sang a birthday song for me. Then I got my present, THIS!!
which is awesome.
I also got some very pretty flowers from my in-laws.
I had a short day at work, I went to a meeting in another part of Copenhagen shortly after lunch, the meeting ended at half three, and then I was off.
Must dash now, it's time for ice cream :D
As part of the DiaCon Alley team I'm proud to announce the official launch of our rather smashing conference
There will be an art show
, a screening of Deathly Hallows II
and a Victory Ball
to celebrate Harry's final victory over Voldemort.
Our theme, much like the theme of the books and movies, is of good rising up against evil in all it’s forms, which is why we have chosen to donate all profit made from the con to Amnesty International
Take a look around, give our F.A.Q.
a read, get to know the committee
and check out our registration page
. Early bird registration is open until July 21st, 2010, with a £5 discount
if you book your accommodation at the same time. Pretty awesome, huh?
So tell your friends and stay tuned for further exciting updates on LJ
Hope to see you there. :)
So today I posted art for the first time in over a year. I hope it won't take me that long to draw something again. It's not that I haven't done any art lately ... actually I've done some art that I'm very proud of. I'm talking about the cover for Steve Vander Ark's book 'In Search of Harry Potter'. ( In Search of Harry Potter )
In addition to the cover art I also drew the maps printed in the book. The book itself is wonderful, and reading it takes me right back to Patronus in 2006, when Steve gave his talk about his search for Hogwarts. Once again I want to drop everything then and there and go visit all of these places, and experience the magic myself. If you haven't already ordered the book, I highly recommend it.
I'm overjoyed, there's going to be a Sectus in 2009, and it will be in a castle a freakin' castle!!
Booking for Sectus 2009 has now opened and seriously, it's going to be amazing. The venue is Bodelwyddan Castle in Wales, and it's absolutely gorgeous (see pics!). At night you can see it lit up on its hill from the main road, just like Hogwarts. As well as the wonderful castley exterior, it has all the facilities of a modern four-star hotel, including a swimming pool and numerous bars.
We have the castle all to ourselves for all four days, plus massive grounds that include woods and even a maze! This is going to be a completely one-of-a-kind event—we'll do all the usual papers and panels, but we'll also have extra activities including archery and a bunch of stuff that we haven't quite decided on yet.
This is going to be the coolest con since ... well, Sectus 2007 ;-)
The best rooms are available to those who book first, so go hurry and register now!
